On the morning of September 16 local time, Vice Premier Liu Yandong met in Brussels with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Didier Reynders of Belgium.

Liu Yandong expressed that China-Belgium relations are standing at the best period in history. President Xi Jinping paid a successful state visit to Belgium last year, making clear the positioning of China-Belgium all-round friendly cooperative partnership for the first time. Next year marks the 45th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium, China is willing to work with Belgium to, based on the existing sound cooperation, further enhance political mutual trust, intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote bilateral cooperation in all fields for more results. The establishment of China Culture Center in Brussels, as an important result in China-EU people-to-people and cultural exchanges and historical witness of China-Belgium friendship, will surely play an important role in promoting China-Belgium and China-EU cultural exchanges and mutual learning.

Didier Reynders noted that King Philippe of Belgium paid a very successful state visit to China this June, further pushing forward the development of Belgium-China relations. Belgium highly admires China's development achievements and is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with China in all sectors including the people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to lift the Belgium-China relations to new highs. He believed that the China Culture Center in Brussels will serve as a window and bridge for mutual understanding between people in Belgium and China as well as in EU and China.

Following the meeting, Liu Yandong and Didier Reynders inaugurated the China Culture Center together.
