Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games Bid Team Makes Candidate City's Official Presentation to IOC Session; Liu Yandong Attends and Addresses Session on Behalf of Chinese Government

On July 31 local time, the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games Bid Team made the official presentation of candidate cities for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games at the 128th International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Vice Premier Liu Yandong attended and addressed the session on behalf of the Chinese government.

Liu Yandong reaffirmed that the Chinese government will give full support to the bid for hosting the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and provide guarantees on finance, law, medical treatment, security, organization, operation, and others.

Liu Yandong said that if the 2022 Winter Olympic Games is held in Beijing, it will lead 300 million Chinese people, especially teenagers, to participate in winter sports in various ways, and promote the development of winter sports in China, the world's most populous nation. The Winter Olympic Games will also help to effectively spread positive and healthy lifestyles, improve people's physique, establish a healthy China, and better realize people's dreams on pursuing a good life. At the same time, it will further expand the coverage of winter games, and bring new opportunities for the vigorous development of Olympic Movement and winter sports industries worldwide.

Liu Yandong pointed out that our bidding process showed the value of promoting development and benefiting people, which highly corresponds with the national strategy of the integrated and coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region being carried out by the Chinese government, pushed forward the integration of traffic, environmental management and industries, promoted tourism, and increased employment.

Liu Yandong stressed that China enjoys political stability, economic prosperity and social harmony. As a responsible country, we will always be trustworthy in word and resolute in deed. We will fulfill all the commitments. I hope you will support Beijing.

Liu Peng, President of the Chinese Olympic Committee and Director of the General Administration of Sport of China, Wang Anshun, President of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games Bid Team and Mayor of Beijing, and other eight members of the delegation also respectively made presentations on the aspects including the significance and capability of the bidding, the sustainable development, athlete-centered spirits, stadium and gymnasium facilities, the economical host of the Games, and the promotion of the development of mass sports.
