Li Keqiang Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Laurent Fabius of France

On the afternoon of May 15, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at Ziguangge of Zhongnanhai with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Laurent Fabius of France, who was in China for the attendance of the second meeting of the China-France High-level Mechanism of Dialogue on People-to-People Exchanges.

Li Keqiang expressed that currently as the China-France strategic mutual trust continues to deepen and cooperation in various fields advances steadfastly, bilateral relations are standing at the forefront of relations between China and other major western countries, in which the bilateral High-level Mechanism of Dialogue on People-to-People Exchanges has played a positive role. The Chinese side stands ready to work with the French side to earnestly plan and implement the arrangement for high-level mutual visits going forward, focus on advancing joint development of third-party markets and cooperation in nuclear energy and strengthen cooperation in economy and trade, agriculture, aerospace, aviation and other fields, so as to promote the transformation and upgrading of China-France all-round practical cooperation. China is also willing to intensify communication and coordination with France in addressing climate change, global economic governance and other issues of common interest, sending out an important signal that the two sides join efforts to safeguard the world peace and promote common prosperity.

Laurent Fabius expressed that the consensus reached by the two sides during the visit paid by Prime Minister Manuel Valls to China at the beginning of this year is being implemented step by step. The French side is satisfied with the current development of France-China relations and stands ready to, together with China, continue the high-level exchanges, enhance cooperation in civil nuclear energy, aerospace, aviation, medical treatment and public health, agriculture, food processing and other fields, carry out third-party cooperation in Africa and other regions and maintain communication and coordination on global issues such as climate change.

Vice Premier Liu Yandong attended the meeting.
