Li Keqiang Exchanges Congratulatory Messages with EU Leaders on 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between China and EU

On May 6, 2015,Premier Li Keqiang exchanged congratulatory messages with President Donald Tusk of European Council and President Jean-Claude Juncker of European Commission, warmly celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the EU.

Li Keqiang said in his congratulatory message that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the EU 40 years ago, both sides have always adhered to dialogue and cooperation, addressed global challenges together, properly handled the conflicts and divergences, and promoted the peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world at large. China-EU relations have embarked on a development path featuring mutual benefit and win-win result. Both sides have become cooperative partners with increasingly close relationship.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China firmly supports the European integration and is ready to, together with the EU, bear in mind the big picture of the development of bilateral relations, and better consolidate the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership. He is looking forward to co-chairing the 17th China-EU Summit together with President Donald Tusk and President Jean-Claude Juncker within this year, so as to inject new impetus into the China-EU all-round cooperation in the new era.

President Donald Tusk and President Jean-Claude Juncker said in their congratulatory messages that the EU and China have constantly scored new progress in bilateral cooperation in all fields including economy, trade, investment, diplomacy, environmental protection and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, laying a solid foundation for the future development of bilateral relations. They are looking forward to in-depth exchange of views on EU-China relations during the 17th EU-China Summit and further implementing the EU-China 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation, so as to yield benefits for all parties from the EU-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
