Li Keqiang Meets with General Secretary of CPV Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong

In the afternoon of April 8, 2015, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong, who was in China for an official visit.

Li Keqiang noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Viet Nam 65 years ago, the overall bilateral relations have been advancing. Yesterday, General Secretary Xi Jinping held candid, in-depth and fruitful talks with you on consolidating and developing the bilateral relations between the two parties and two countries, reaching important consensus. In the current international political and economic arena, as neighbors to each other, China and Viet Nam should consolidate political mutual trust, intensify unity and coordination, properly handle the differences, and create favorable conditions and a sound environment for their respective economic development and improvement of people's livelihood, so as to promote China-Viet Nam good-neighborly friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation for new development and devote to safeguarding regional peace, stability and prosperity.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Viet Nam have set up three working groups on maritime, land and financial cooperation, which conduces to forging a new pattern of coordinative cooperation both on the sea and the land between the two sides. It is hoped that both sides could earnestly follow the principle of developing the three sectors simultaneously and advancing in a coordinated manner, better connect their development strategies and plans with each other, and carry out cooperation in such fields as joint maritime development, connectivity on the land and finance. China is willing to, together with Viet Nam, launch the inspection on the waters outside the Beibu Gulf at the earliest time this year, so as to push the joint development of the waters outside the Beibu Gulf and waters covering larger area for substantial progress.

Li Keqiang stressed that China is willing to work with Viet Nam to intensify economic cooperation in multi-lateral fields, and carry out practical cooperation in mechanisms of sub-region including the economic cooperation in the Greater Mekong River and Beibu Gulf rim, so as to better benefit the two countries and people in the region.

Nguyen Phu Trong noted that as friendly neighbors linked by rivers and mountains, Viet Nam-China relations have gone through the course of 65 years. Viet Nam attaches importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation with China and always takes its relations with China as a top priority. Viet Nam is grateful to China for its assistance in the economic and social development of Viet Nam, and hopes to further cement and deepen the Viet Nam-China traditional friendship and comradely and brotherly relations,so as to push the bilateral relations for comprehensive development. Viet Nam is ready to, together with China, accelerate the pace of the work of the three working groups on maritime, land and financial affairs, and enhance consultation and negotiation on maritime affairs to seek a solution acceptable to both sides in accordance with the agreement and consensus that have been reached by the two sides, so as to maintain a peaceful and stable environment together.

Member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and State Councilor Yang Jing, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Jiarui, members of the Political Bureau of the CPV Central Committee including Dinh The Huynh, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Phung Quang Thanh and Tran Dai Quang, Member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee Tran Quoc Vuong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh and other officials were present at the meeting.
