President Xi Jinping and President Jacob Zuma of South Africa Exchange Congratulatory Messages on Launch of "Year of China" in South Africa

On March 15, 2015, President Xi Jinping and President Jacob Zuma of South Africa exchanged congratulatory messages, extending warm congratulations on the launch of the “Year of China” in South Africa.

Xi Jinping said in his congratulatory message that on the occasion of the launch of the 2015 “Year of China” in South Africa, I hereby extend warm congratulations on behalf of the Chinese government and people. Under the framework of the “Year of China” in South Africa, China and South Africa will hold a series of wonderful events of exchanges in major cities of the nine provinces of South Africa. I believe that the “Year of China” in South Africa will open a new chapter of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and South Africa. China is willing to join hands and work together with South Africa to push friendly cooperation between China and South Africa as well as between China and Africa for more fruitful results, better benefiting the Chinese and African peoples.

Zuma said in his congratulatory message that South Africa and China holding the country year in each other bears a historic significance in promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries and in boosting the bilateral relations to a higher level. South Africa sincerely appreciates China’s support to South Africa in holding the “Year of South Africa” in China in 2014, and will render full support to the holding of the 2015 “Year of China” in South Africa as well. South Africa expects that the event will thoroughly display China’s rich and colorful history and culture as well as its tremendous achievements in national construction.
