Li Keqiang Attends Closing Ceremony of Commemoration for 50th Anniversary of Establishment of China-France Diplomatic Relations with Prime Minister Manuel Valls of France, Stressing to Continuously Write a New Chapter for Bilateral Friendship

On the evening of January 30, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Manuel Valls of France together attended the closing ceremony of the commemoration for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relations and delivered a speech at the National Museum.

Li Keqiang expressed in his speech that China and France are both great countries with time-honored history and splendid culture. Both countries established diplomatic relations 50 years ago, opening up a new course for bilateral relations. Over the 50 years, the development of bilateral relations has set an example for state to state exchanges. Over the past year, China and France witnessed fruitful cooperation results in all areas including politics, economy, people-to-people and cultural engagement and international affairs. Both sides held over 800 creative and brilliant commemorations for the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, which deepened mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and consolidated the public opinion foundation for bilateral friendly relations.

Li Keqiang pointed out that only heart to heart friendship can be long-lasting. In the new situation, China will, together with France, view and handle bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective and stick to mutual respect, equal treatment, inclusiveness, mutual learning and win-win cooperation, so as to intensify strategic mutual trust and deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and the like. As two great civilizations, China and France should join hands to continuously write a new chapter for bilateral friendship with broader global perspective and innovative spirit, thus to make new contribution to the sustainable development of human civilization, international peace as well as regional tranquility.

Manuel Valls said in his speech that France-China relations are developing smoothly with active people-to-people and cultural exchanges in particular. Over the year, both sides held a large number of commemorations for 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, creating multiple new records, which fully embodies the profound friendship between the two peoples. France and China boast a huge cooperation space and France is full of confidence in the prospect of bilateral relations.

Prior to the closing ceremony, the Chinese Premier and the French Prime Minister together visited the Sculpture Exhibition of Auguste Rodin at the National Museum.
