Li Keqiang Meets with President Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera of Costa Rica

In the afternoon of January 8, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera of Costa Rica, who was in China for a visit and attendance of the first ministerial meeting of the Forum of China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

Li Keqiang said that though China and Costa Rica established diplomatic relationship not long ago, bilateral relations have entered a fast track for development. During the visit, President Xi Jinping and you together announced to establish China-Costa Rica strategic partnership featuring equality, mutual trust and win-win cooperation, injecting new vitality into bilateral relations. China highly appreciates Costa Rica for upholding the One China policy, and stands ready to, together with the country, cement the foundation of political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation and enhance communication and coordination in major international and regional affairs, so as to achieve mutual benefit, reciprocity and win-win results.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Costa Rica enjoy prominent complementary advantages in economy and are expected to earnestly formulate joint action plan for bilateral cooperation, take practical and effective measures, and make the best of bilateral free trade agreement to expand economic and trade exchanges and advance mutual investment. China will combine its advantageous production capacity and advanced equipment with the demand of Costa Rica to improve infrastructure including transportation, thus to broaden cooperation fields and create new highlights.

Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera expressed that since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relationship, the two countries have enjoyed substantial development in their comprehensive cooperation of all areas, not only injecting constant and new vigor into bilateral relations but also bringing benefit to economic and social development of Costa Rica. His visit is a historic one, during which the strategic partnership was established and the development direction of bilateral relations was planed. The Costa Rican government takes developing relations with China as a priority in its foreign policy, welcomes China's investment and will work with China to cultivate and well develop bilateral relations featuring mutual trust and mutual benefit.
