Xi Jinping Holds a Welcome banquent Barack Obama of the US

On November12, 2014, President Xi Jinping held a banquet at the Great Hall of the People, welcoming President Barack Obama of the US paying a state visit to China. Yu Zhengsheng, Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan and Zhang Gaoli were present.

The two heads of state respectively delivered a speech at the banquet.

Xi Jinping pointed out that 35 years ago, China and the US established diplomatic relationship, opening up a new era for relations and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Today, the building of the new model of major-country relationship between China and the US has achieved important progress, and bilateral relations are standing at new historical starting point. Chinese ancestors said, "Those who travel far will not stop halfway." We should stand high and see far, wok with perseverance and conquer all obstacles, so as to advance China-US relations along the right direction in a steady, practical and long-term manner.

Obama expressed that over the 35 years, exchanges between both countries have become frequent from scratch, covering an extraordinary path. The two countries have become close and important cooperative partners. Nothing in the world is difficult for one who sets his mind on it. The US is willing to join efforts with China to constantly advance the building of the new model of major-country relationship between the two countries.

Wang Huning, Liu Yandong, Wang Yang, Fan Changlong, Li Zhanshu, Zhang Ping, Yang Jiechi, Han Qide, Tung Chee Hwa and others also attended the banquet.
