Zhang Dejiang Meets with Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani of Qatar

On November 4, 2014, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met with Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani of Qatar at the Great Hall of the People.

Zhang Dejiang said that since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Qatar 26 years ago, the two countries have always adhered to equal treatment and mutual respect, cooperated in various areas and yielded fruitful results, and enjoyed sound development in bilateral relations. During Your Highness's visit, the two heads of state reached an important consensus and both sides together issued a joint declaration on the establishment of bilateral strategic partnership, which symbolizes that China-Qatar relations have ushered in a new stage. Both sides should take this opportunity to carry forward the stable development of the strategic partnership. Zhang Dejiang also briefed on the situation of the fourth Plenary Session of the Eighteenth Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and expressed that the NPC of China stands ready to strengthen communication and cooperation with Qatar's Consultative Council to share experience of administration and governance of state affairs, create favorable legal environment for mutually beneficial cooperation and lay a solid public foundation so as to make positive contributions to improving cooperation between China and Qatar and other Gulf countries as well as deepening China-Qatar relations.

Tamim said that his visit to China is productive and Qatar stands ready to deepen all-round cooperation with China.
