Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi of Italy Jointly Attend and Address the Fifth China-Italy Innovation Week Conference

In the morning of October 16 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi of Italy jointly attended the fifth China-Italy Innovation Week Conference in Milan and delivered speeches.

Li Keqiang congratulated on the convening of the Conference on behalf of the Chinese government and positively commented contributions made by the China-Italy Innovation Week to bilateral cooperation in scientific and technological innovation. Li Keqiang pointed out that both China and Italy are countries with ancient civilizations and are respectively outstanding representatives of Eastern and Western civilizations. Both countries enjoy a long history of exchanges on the Silk Road. At present, exchanges and cooperation between China and Italy are becoming increasingly close. During my visit to Italy, both countries signed a series of cooperation agreements, in which scientific and technological innovation is one of the important areas. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen innovation cooperation with the Italian side in science and technology, industrial design, manufacturing and other fields. I believe that through joint efforts of both sides, the scientific and technological innovation cooperation will radiate splendor of the era in the intersection of the two great civilizations and make greater contributions to economic and social development of both sides.

Renzi expressed that both Italy and China enjoy rich history and culture and the bilateral cooperation is strategic. Young people of both countries should strengthen exchanges, give play to complementary strengths of both sides in science and technology, education and other fields, actively carry out innovation cooperation, and take this as a new starting point to carry forward the traditional friendship between both countries and create a bright future for the Italy-China relations.
