Li Keqiang Meets with President Park Geun-hye of the Republic of Korea (ROK)

In the afternoon of October 16 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met in Milan with President Park Geun-hye of the Republic of Korea (ROK).

Park Geun-hye first congratulated China on its remarkable achievements during the Asian Games in Incheon. Li Keqiang conveyed the sincere greetings from President Xi Jinping to President Park Geun-hye and congratulated the ROK on successfully holding the Asian Games. Li Keqiang expressed that the bilateral relations between China and the ROK, important neighbors and cooperative partners to each other, are standing at a new era of rapid and comprehensive development. China is willing to work with the ROK to maintain high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, and enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to advance the bilateral relations for greater development.

Li Keqiang pointed out that promoting the trade liberalization and investment facilitation is the right remedy to cope with the slow recovery pace of the global economy. The economic cooperation between China and the ROK is conducive not only to both sides, but also to the development and prosperity in East Asia. China stands ready to make joint efforts with the ROK to build a comprehensive and high-level China-ROK free trade area with balanced interests at an early date, and intensify cooperation in finance, new energy, high-tech and other fields, so as to push forward the bilateral economic and trade cooperation for higher level.

Park Geun-hye asked Li Keqiang to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. She expressed that Premier Li Keqiang delivered an excellent speech at the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit just now, which will vigorously push forward the Asia-Europe cooperation. China has made important contributions to helping the Western African countries in combating the Ebola epidemic. China's economy has maintained a sustained and rapid development, which conduces to the prosperity in the region and the world. The ROK side is ready to work with the Chinese side to further intensify cooperation in economy, trade, finance and other fields, and expects to conclude the negotiation on ROK-China free trade agreement by the end of this year, making efforts to reach a comprehensive and high-level free trade agreement and to realize the goal of raising bilateral trade volume to 300 billion USD in 2015, so as to improve the international competence of the two nations and push forward the sustainable growth of the economy.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional topics of common interest.
