Li Keqiang Meets with President of the Senate Pietro Grasso of Italy
2014/10/15

In the morning of October 15 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with President of the Senate Pietro Grasso of Italy in Rome.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and Italy are important partners who trust each other and join hands for cooperation. The two countries should give full play to their highly complementary advantages in sustainable development, scientific and technological innovation, environmental protection and other fields and continue to expand practical cooperation in bilateral trade, two-way investment and other fields so as to add impetus to respective economic and social development.

Li Keqiang pointed out that parliamentary exchanges are an important component of bilateral relations and are conducive to laying a solid public opinion foundation for the development of bilateral relations. I hope that the Senate of Italy will continue to support the development of China-Italy relations as always and promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields for more fruitful results. I welcome Italian senators to visit China more often and look around so as to have a more comprehensive and genuine understanding of China.

Grasso expressed that both Italy and China boast time-honored and splendid civilization and the Silk Road links the two countries closely. The Italian people hold profound friendly affections towards the Chinese people and admire China's development achievements. On the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win results, the Italian side stands ready to further strengthen bilateral high-level exchanges and parliamentary exchanges and expand cooperation in economy and trade, investment, people-to-people and cultural engagement, connectivity and other fields. It is believed that with joint efforts of both sides, the tree of friendship of the two countries will be more luxuriant and will open a new chapter for bilateral friendly relations.
