In the morning of October 15 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met in Rome with President Laura Boldrini of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy.

Li Keqiang said that China and Italy deepening friendly relations and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation not only conform to the interests of both countries, but also are conducive to exchanges and mutual learning between different civilizations. China is willing to join efforts with Italy and take next year’s 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between the two countries as an opportunity to promote the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership for new and greater development.

Upon request, Li Keqiang introduced China’s new measures and new progress in reform and opening-up. He said that although China and Italy have different national conditions, they both face the task of sustained development. I hope that the legislatures of both countries strengthen exchanges at different levels and in different forms, and constantly enrich and deepen exchanges of experience in such aspects as legislation and governance and administration of state affairs, so as to contribute efforts in deepening the bilateral practical cooperation.

Boldrini said that both Italy and China enjoy time-honored history and culture, and have yielded fruitful achievements in bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields. Italy admires the remarkable achievements China has gained in its reform and opening-up. The Chamber of Deputies of Italy has been committed to promoting the development of the Italy-China relationship, and is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China. Italy thanks China for its active participation in the 2015 Milan World Expo. The Chinese community in Italy has made positive contributions to the economic and social development of Italy. Italy welcomes more Chinese citizens to travel in Italy and more Chinese students to study in Italy.
