Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi of Italy Jointly Meet the Press

In the evening of October 14 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi of Italy jointly met the press after holding talks in Rome.

Li Keqiang briefed on the results of the talks between the Chinese Premier and the Italian Prime Minister. Li Keqiang expressed that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership. The development of bilateral relations is at the critical moment that inherits the past and ushers in the future. The Chinese side stands ready to enhance political mutual trust, cement the political foundation of bilateral relations, tap into the potential of practical cooperation, increase trade and mutual investment level and strengthen cooperation in such areas as infrastructure construction, energy, finance, innovation and SMEs. China and Italy are both major civilizations in the world that enjoy innate advantage in carrying out people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Both sides should continue to deepen cooperation in such areas as culture, education and tourism.

Li Keqiang expressed that two days later leaders from over 50 Asian and European countries and international organizations would gather in Milan to jointly attend the 10th Asia–Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit, which would serve as an important opportunity for countries in Asia and Europe to accumulate consensus, focus on development and strengthen cooperation. The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Italian side and the European side to promote the Asia-Europe dialogue and cooperation for new progress.

Renzi expressed that Italy-China friendship enjoys a time-honored history. Both countries are major civilizations and close cooperative partners. Bilateral cooperation in various areas enjoys fruitful results and broad prospect. During Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Italy, both sides will sign a series of new cooperative agreements. The Italian side stands ready to, together with China, celebrate the 10th anniversary of Italy-China comprehensive strategic partnership and promote the bilateral relations for constant development.
