Li Keqiang Meets with President Giorgio Napolitano of Italy

In the afternoon of October 14 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with President Giorgio Napolitano of Italy in the Quirinal Palace of Rome .

Li Keqiang first conveyed President Xi Jinping’s sincere greetings to President Napolitano. Li Keqiang said that since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and Italy, the two countries have carried forward the traditional friendship and been committed to promoting all-round cooperation in politics, economy, innovation, people-to-people and cultural engagement and other fields so as to benefit the two peoples. China is willing to work with Italy to consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen practical cooperation and cultural exchanges, and continuously deepen the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership, so as to promote the sustained development of China-Europe relations and Asia-Europe cooperation.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Italy expanding investment to each other is a mutually beneficial and win-win choice. In recent years, China has continuously expanded the depth and breadth of its investment in Italy, which is an inevitable outcome of the mutual economic opening-up and the increasingly deepened integration of the two economies. The Chinese government welcomes more Italian enterprises to explore the Chinese market, and will continue to encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Italy. The two sides can also jointly develop a third-party market. China and Italy are both countries with ancient civilizations. He hoped that the two sides enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges so as to lay a solid foundation for the development of the bilateral relations.

Napolitano warmly welcomed Li Keqiang’s visit to Italy, and asked Li Keqiang to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. He said that the Italy-China relationship has developed continuously and become increasingly close. China is an important cooperative partner of Italy. China boasts admirably rapid development, and has made significant contributions to the recovery and growth of the world economy. Italy is willing to work with China to further strengthen communication and mutual learning, expand cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, culture, and investment as well as inter-enterprise cooperation, so as to promote the bilateral relations for new development. The Europe-China relationship is very important to both sides and the world at large. Italy is willing to play an active role in promoting the development of the Europe-China relationship.
