China and Germany to Carry out In-depth Cooperation in Electric Vehicles

In June 2011, the first round of China-Germany inter-governmental consultations decided to establish the China-Germany Strategic Partnership in Electric Mobility. On October 10 local time, the Action Outline for China-Germany Cooperation released after the third round of China-Germany inter-governmental consultations once again set the cooperation in electric vehicles as an important field for bilateral cooperation in innovation in the future. Both sides expressed the willingness to increase support to the electric vehicles in research and development, market development, infrastructure construction and other areas and to discuss the joint construction of the charging infrastructure and demonstration projects on the inter-connections between electric vehicles and smart grid.

The Action Outline for China-Germany Cooperation stated that both sides will enhance coordination in the formulation of the national regulations and standards, especially in the cooperation in the field of electric vehicles standards, intensify dialogues in charging infrastructure and deepen exchanges and cooperation between demonstration projects of electric vehicles and pilot cities.
