Zhang Dejiang Meets with Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy Brey of Spain

On September 26, 2014, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met with Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy Brey of Spain at the Great Hall of the People.

Zhang Dejiang said that China-Spain relations have been developing smoothly since the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic relationship. Particularly in recent years, the two sides have maintained close coordination and cooperation in areas such as addressing the global financial crisis, further consolidating bilateral relations. President Xi Jinping proposed the strategic concept of jointly building the "One Belt One Road". The two sides should seize this important development opportunity to expand and deepen new areas of cooperation as well as cultivate and develop new growth points of cooperation to realize common development. The NPC of China is willing to deepen the friendly exchanges with the Senate and the Congress of Deputies of Spain, implement the exchange and cooperation programs in a focused and planned way, consolidate the bilateral relations on political mutual trust, create an environment for practical cooperation, and reinforce the social and public opinion foundation for friendship, so as to promote a sustained and in-depth development of the bilateral relations.

Rajoy said that Spain attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and hoped that the parliaments of both sides will strengthen exchanges and cooperation and continue to enhance the mutual understanding between the two peoples to promote a better development of the Spain-China relations.
