Zhang Gaoli Meets with President Juan Evo Morales Ayma of Bolivia

On September 22 local time, Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, as Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping, met with President Juan Evo Morales Ayma of Bolivia at the UN headquarters in New York while attending the UN Climate Summit.

Zhang Gaoli conveyed President Xi Jinping’s kind greetings to Morales. Zhang Gaoli said that over the 29 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and Bolivia, the bilateral relations have developed smoothly and the traditional friendship has been continuously consolidated and enhanced. Both sides have maintained close high-level exchanges and continuously made positive fruits in practical cooperation. The Chinese government attaches great importance to developing relations with Bolivia, and is willing to join efforts with Bolivia to take the opportunity of next year’s 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between the two countries to expand and deepen bilateral practical cooperation, so as to promote the China-Bolivia relations to a higher level.

Zhang Gaoli said that China will continue to support and cooperate with Bolivia in its work as the chairmanship of the Group of 77 to promote mutual understanding, mutual respect and mutual support among the member countries of the Group of 77 and increase the representation and voice of the developing countries in the multilateral process of addressing climate change. China will continue to vigorously promote South-South cooperation in addressing climate change.

Morales asked Zhang Gaoli to convey his kind greetings to President Xi Jinping. He said that Bolivia and China share a high degree of political mutual trust. He and President Xi Jinping had many sincere exchanges and jointly discussed pushing an in-depth development of the bilateral relations. Bolivia attaches importance to China’s global leading role in addressing climate change and others, and feels proud of the friendly relations and close cooperation between Bolivia and China. Bolivia looks forward to further expanding economic and trade cooperation with China, and will create a sound environment for Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Bolivia.
