Yang Jiechi Meets with Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Maite Nkoana-Mashabane of South Africa

On September 4, 2014, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met at the Great Hall of the People with Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Maite Nkoana-Mashabane of South Africa, who came to China to attend the first meeting of the China-South Africa Inter-Ministerial Joint Working Group on Cooperation.

Yang Jiechi extended his congratulations on the success of the first meeting of the China-South Africa Inter-Ministerial Joint Working Group on Cooperation. He said that both being important major developing countries, China and South Africa have achieved remarkable results in cooperation, coordinated and cooperated in international affairs, and safeguarded the common interests of developing countries. China is willing to work together with South Africa to comprehensively implement the important consensuses reached by the two heads of state, so as to build China-South Africa relations into a model of solidarity and cooperation between major developing countries.

Mashabane agreed to Yang Jiechi's comments on the bilateral relations. She said that South Africa is willing to deepen cooperation with China in such fields as politics, economy and trade, and people-to-people and cultural engagement, strengthen communication, coordination and cooperation in international and African affairs, and comprehensively develop South Africa-China relations.
