President Milos Zeman of the Czech Republic Meets with Zhang Gaoli

On August 28 local time, 2014, President Milos Zeman of the Czech Republic met in Prague with Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, who went to the Czech Republic to attend the the second Local Leaders' Meeting between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) .

Firstly, Zhang Gaoli conveyed warm greetings from President Xi Jinping. Zeman expressed gratitude and asked him to convey his good wishes to President Xi Jinping.

Zeman said that he is delighted to see that the Czech-China relations are embracing new opportunities of development and that bilateral practical cooperation constantly makes new progress. The Czech side is ready to work with the Chinese side to further tap the cooperation potential and expand the area of cooperation and expects more Chinese enterprises to invest and conduct business in the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic will actively make use of the platform of "16+1 cooperation" to facilitate cooperation between the CEEC, EU countries and China. Zeman stressed that the Czech side highly praises the outstanding achievements that China has achieved in social and economic development and that building a well-off society is an important contribution to advancing the cause of human rights. The Czech side also praises the efforts and achievements that the Chinese government has made in promoting development in Tibet.

Zhang Gaoli expressed that Mr. President is a revered statesman in the Czech Republic, who has made positive contributions to the development of the China-Czech relations and the promotion of friendly cooperation between the two countries. The Czech Republic was one of the earliest countries that recognized the new China. Bilateral traditional friendship has taken deep roots in the heart of the two peoples. At present the China-Czech relations are releasing huge potential and both sides show strong will for cooperation. The two countries will accelerate bilateral practical cooperation in such areas as trade, investment, agriculture, science and technology, health care, infrastructure and tourism, and jointly push forward the China-CEEC cooperation and the development of the China-Europe relations. The Chinese government encourages Chinese enterprises to invest in the Czech Republic and will make joint efforts with the Czech government to create a favorable policy environment and actively promote cooperation between enterprises of the two countries. We appreciate Mr. President for attaching importance to China's core concerns and believe that on the basis of deepening mutual understanding and enhancing political mutual trust, the China-Czech friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation will enter a new era of development.
