Wang Yang, Yang Jiechi, John Kerry and Jacob Lew Jointly Meet with Chinese and US Entrepreneurs

On July 10, 2014, Special Representative of President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier Wang Yang, State Councilor Yang Jiechi, along with Special Representative of President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew of the US, during their attendance at the 6th round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue, met with the entrepreneurs from both China and the US at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and were briefed by the business circles on their views and opinions on the development of China-US economic relations.

The entrepreneurs from the two nations expressed that the Chinese and US enterprises should give full play to their respective advantages to integrate their resources in a mutually beneficial and reciprocal manner and to expand the global market, which will benefit the two sides. The two countries have been respecting and learning from each other, making contributions to local economic and social development. The entrepreneurs of both countries will conduct more in-depth and extensive cooperation in the future. They hoped that the two nations could keep stable relations, enhance dialogues, and reduce frictions, so as to create a more favorable investment environment and more market access opportunities.

Wang Yang said that China and the US enjoy high complementarity and huge cooperation potentials in their economy. As the enterprises have a tangible expectation for the sound trade and investment environment, the two governments should make joint efforts to properly handle the trade disputes, optimize investment environment, build platforms for economic and trade cooperation, and ensure effective settlement of the prominent problems in the investment. He believed that with the ambitious entrepreneurs serving as pioneers, practical and highly-efficient governments as backup force, and a series of dialogue mechanisms as guarantee, the bilateral practical cooperation in economy will certainly see the good news keeping pouring in.

Yang Jiechi noted that the enterprises, serving as the entity of the China-US economic and trade cooperation, are propeller for the bilateral cooperation in various fields. Over the past 35 years, China and the US have seen their trade and two-way investment growing dramatically, cooperation fields constantly expanding, and personnel exchanges increasingly boosted, all of which cannot be achieved without the strong promotion of the enterprises of both sides. The building of the new model of major country relationship requires the business circles of the two countries to actively support and participate and play an important role as fresh reinforcements.

John Kerry and Jacob Lew said that the US and China and the biggest economic alliance and trade partner in the history of the mankind. The business circles of the two countries have provided strong driving force for the development of bilateral relations. The bilateral trade and mutual investment have not only boosted the economic development, employment growth and economic transformation of the two nations, but also promoted the growth of global economy. The US side welcomes the Chinese enterprises to invest in the US and the US government will take the suggestions put forward by the business circles into serious consideration and provide their development with favorable environment.
