Yang Jiechi Meets with Delegation of American Foreign Policy Council
2014/06/26

On June 26, 2014, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with the delegation of the American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC) led by former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Richard Myers in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi said that President Xi Jinping and President Barack Obama jointly agreed last year to build a new model of major-country relationship between China and the United States, which charted the course for the bilateral relations. China and the US should earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further expand the fields of cooperation, properly handle differences, and push forward the development of the China-US relations along the right and sound track. He hoped that the AFPC will exert a positive influence on promoting all sectors in the US to understand the current China and China-US relations objectively and comprehensively.

Myers said that the AFPC is willing to serve as a channel of enhancing communication and promoting understanding between the US and China.
