Li Keqiang Meets with the Press Along with Prime Minister Matteo Renzi of Italy

In the afternoon of June 11, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met with the press along with Prime Minister Matteo Renzi of Italy at the Great Hall of the People after they held talks.

Li Keqiang said that as the world major economies and representatives of the eastern and western civilizations respectively, it not only conforms to the common interests of both China and Italy, but also benefits the whole world for the two countries to ensure a sound development of bilateral relations. During the visit, the two governments issued the new China-Italy Three-Year Action Plan on Strengthening Economic Cooperation, comprehensively blueprinting and guiding the bilateral cooperation in various fields. It is believed that the Plan will help to drive the economic and social development of both countries and benefit the two peoples. China is willing to work with the Italian side to continue holding the general direction of the bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, so as to push forward the China-Italy relations to new highs.

Li Keqiang said that the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) is an important "test field" for cooperation among countries featuring different national conditions, development stages and cultures. China will actively support and cooperate with the Italian side in its hosting of the 10th ASEM Summit in October this year, and expects the Summit to yield positive results in comprehensively planning and promoting the cooperation in politics, economy, trade, social culture and other fields between Asia and Europe in a balanced manner, in enhancing connectivity between Asia and Europe and in jointly forging the Asia-Europe big market, making the Asian and European people share the "dividends" of cooperation and development.

Matteo Renzi said that Italy positively values the sound development of Italy-China comprehensive strategic partnership in the past decade, and stands ready to work with China to implement the consensuses reached by the two sides in a timely manner and the new three-year plan on strengthening economic cooperation, and to deepen and expand the bilateral cooperation in various fields, bringing the Italy-China relations to a faster and better track. The Italian side welcomes Premier Li Keqiang to visit Italy and attend the ASEM Summit in the second half of the year. Matteo Renzi also announced that Italy will cut down the visa processing time for Chinese tourists to 36 hours.
