Li Keqiang Meets Respectively with President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of Tanzania and President Thomas Boni Yayi of Benin

On May 7, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang,who was visiting Nigeria, met respectively with President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of Tanzania and President Thomas Boni Yayi of Benin, who were attending the Plenary Session of the 24th World Economic Forum on Africa in Abuja.

During the meeting with Kikwete, Li Keqiang said that for the past 50 years since the establishment of China-Tanzania diplomatic relationship, the two countries have enjoyed mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual support. The bilateral relations have always been at the forefront of the China-Africa relations. China and the African countries including Tanzania are all developing countries, and are highly complementary in cooperation. Under the new situation, China is willing to keep close high-level exchanges with Tanzania, actively expand mutually beneficial cooperation, well implement large cooperation projects and deepen people-to-people exchanges, so as to promote the sustained and in-depth development of China-Tanzania comprehensive cooperative partnership.

Kikwete said that China is a long-term and reliable friend of Tanzania and Africa. In his speech at the African Union, Premier Li Keqiang proposed the "461" Africa-China Cooperation Framework which meets the needs of development of the African countries and accords with the aspirations of the African people, thus receiving extensive support from the African countries. Tanzania is willing to consolidate the traditional friendship with China, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and well implement this cooperation framework, so as to promote the Africa-China relations for greater development.

During the meeting with Yayi, Li Keqiang said, China-Benin cooperation has stepped on a fast track in recent years. Hope that both sides can work together to promote the relevant infrastructure projects in an orderly manner and expand cooperation in economic and trade field, elevating the level of cooperation. China is willing to transfer practicable equipments and technologies to Benin and other African countries to further consolidate the foundation of bilateral cooperation and to bring it a broader prospect.

Yayi said that Benin and China are close friends. China has helped Benin in infrastructure construction of roads and electricity, which has effectively promoted the development of Benin and other countries in the sub-region. Benin is willing to expand the scale of cooperation with China, elevate the level of cooperation and play a positive role in developing the Africa-China relations.
