Yang Jiechi Meets with Indian Ambassador to China

On May 27, 2014, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Indian Ambassador to China Ashok K. Kantha at Zhongnanhai.

Yang Jiechi conveyed the congratulations from Chinese leaders to Narendra Modi on his assumption of office as Prime Minister of the new Indian government. He expressed that China attaches great importance to developing relations with India. China is willing to work together with the new government of India in maintaining close high-level exchanges, in strengthening cooperation in all fields, and in maintaining a good development momentum in China-India relations so as to benefit the peoples of both countries and make contributions to the peace and development of Asia and the world at large.

Kantha said the new government of India will continuously adopt the friendly policy toward China and looks forward to cooperating closely with China in promoting the continuous development of India-China strategic and cooperative partnership.
