Li Keqiang Meets with Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius of France

In the afternoon of May 19, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met with Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius of France at Yangyuan Hall, Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Li Keqiang expressed that President Xi Jinping successfully visited France this year, during which the two countries agreed to deepen China-France comprehensive strategic partnership. The Chinese side is willing, with the French side, to inherit and carry forward the spirit for the establishment of the diplomatic relationship featuring as independence, great foresight, mutual benefits and win-win results, so that China-France relations could exert positive effects on advancing China-Europe relations, on promoting China and France to conduct trilateral cooperation with Africa, and on coping with global challenges.

Li Keqiang pointed out that practical cooperation is an important engine for the development of China-France relations. The Chinese side stands ready to take the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between the two countries, to strengthen practical cooperation in various fields, to jointly develop the third-party market in nuclear power and other fields, to increase people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to achieve new results in China-France cooperation. Hope that the French side could take a more open attitude in terms of the scien-tech cooperation with China

Fabius said that this year both countries had a grand celebration for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship, and France-China relations has been elevated to a wholly new level. France is willing to further expand bilateral cooperation in key fields, to jointly develop the third-party market, to well manage the mechanism of medium-and-high-level people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and to expand cooperation in the fields of culture, education and tourism. Recently Premier Li Keqiang paid a successful visit to Africa. The French side stands ready to conduct the trilateral cooperation with the Chinese side in Africa, and is looking forward to strengthening communication and collaboration with China on coping with climate change and other global issues.
