2014/05/15

In the afternoon of May 15, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met with Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Harold McGraw III and his delegation at Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.

Li Keqiang said that as an important non-governmental international economic organization, the ICC has played a positive role in promoting the development of international trade and the recovery of the world economy. Over the past 20 years since its accession to the ICC, China has actively participated in relevant affairs, and introduced a great number of rules and practices in the field of finance and trade, which has helped to improve the business environment in China and the internationalization level of the Chinese enterprises.

Li Keqiang pointed out, China is comprehensively deepening reforms and further expanding opening up. We offer a business environment of equality and fair play to both Chinese and foreign enterprises, and the enterprises enjoy vast space for their development in China. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the ICC, to work together for anti-protectionism in trade and investment and to safeguard a fair and rational international economic order. Hope that the ICC and its agencies such as Standard & Poor's would pay attention to the voice of the industrial and commercial circles in China on major economic and trade issues, so as to play a positive role in promoting cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises.

McGraw spoke positively of the fruitful results of Premier Li's recent successful visit to the four African countries and China's contribution to promoting the growth of the world economy and to the increase of employment. He expressed that the ICC is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China, expand the scale of global trade and investment, preserve the multilateral trading system, and jointly promote the sustainable growth of the world economy.
