Li Keqiang said that a sound China-US relationship is of great significance for both countries and the world at large and conduces to promoting global economic recovery and maintaining the peace and stability of the world. Under the new circumstances, both China and the US should uphold the right direction of China-US relations in line with the consensus reached by the two heads of state, maintain high-level exchanges, and work together to ensure the success of the next rounds of the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue and the China-US High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange. He said that China and the US, as the largest developing and developed countries in the world respectively, are highly complementary in terms of economy and our common interests far outweigh the differences. China’s huge market potential serves as great opportunity of the US market. The Chinese side is willing to expand the pracrtical cooperation in trade and investment, energy and environmental protection, climate changes and other fields and to advance the negotiation progress on the bilateral investment agreement. Hope that the US side can take substantial measures to ease its restrictions on high-tech exports to China for civil use and provide a fair environment for the investments made by Chinese enterprises in the US.

Jacob Lew said that the US-China relations have been constantly deepened and strengthened with the concerted efforts of the two sides in recent years. China’s reform is encouraging and its development is beneficial for economic growth of the US and the world at large. The US looks forward to China’s greater development and stands ready to cooperate closely with the Chinese side to ensure the success of the new round of the US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue and to enhance communication and cooperation in global issues such as climate changes, so as to push the bilateral relations for greater development.
