In the morning of May 7, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang and President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria held talks in Abuja and then jointly met the press. They answered questions from the journalists.

Li Keqiang said, China and Nigeria are important cooperative partners serving as the development opportunities for each other. I hope, through my visit this time, to carry forward China-Nigeria traditional friendship and to strengthen cooperation in all fields, elevating the China-Nigeria strategic partnership to new levels.

Li Keqiang briefed the outcomes of the talks between the two state leaders, and expressed that both sides agreed to strengthen high-level exchanges and strategic dialogues, deepen cooperation in the fields of economy and trade as well as people-to-people and cultural engagement, and consolidate the foundation for China-Nigeria cooperation. The Nigerian government and the people attach great importance to the construction of railways and other infrastructure, in which China boasts strong capability and mature technological experience. The Chinese side is willing to actively participate in the construction of infrastructure projects such as the railway along the coast of Nigeria, and to carry out financing cooperation with the Nigerian side, so as to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results and to benefit the two peoples.

Li Keqiang said, the cooperation agreements reached by China and Nigeria last year are under smooth implementation. Both sides signed more new agreements this time. I am fully confident in the future of China-Nigeria relations.

Jonathan expressed that China is a good friend of Nigeria. The two governments and the enterprises and the people of both countries have maintained close exchanges. The mutual understanding and trust have always been deepened. He and Premier Li Keqiang reached extensive consensus in their talks. Next year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Nigeria-China strategic partnership, and Nigeria stands ready to take this as an opportunity to work with the Chinese side, to further strengthen strategic communication, to expand the scale of trade and mutual investment and to focus on boosting the cooperation in railways, aviation and other aspects of infrastructure, so as to promote the bilateral relations to a new high.
