Li Keqiang Meets with Chairman of the UK Side of China-UK High-Level People-to-People Dialogue

In the afternoon of April 23, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai with Jeremy Hunt, Chairman of the UK side of the China-UK High-Level People-to-People Dialogue and Secretary of State for Health of the UK, who was in China for the second meeting of the Dialogue.

Li Keqiang said that for the two years since the establishment of the mechanism, the China-UK High-Level People-to-People Dialogue, along with the China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue and the China-UK Strategic Dialogue, have constituted the "three major pillars" of bilateral relations, which have promoted the wide-ranging and high-level cooperation between the two sides and the development of China-UK comprehensive strategic partnership.

Li Keqiang pointed out that the frequent and close China-UK people-to-people exchanges benefit both the present and the future generations. Hope that both sides will work hard on high-quality projects in people-to-people exchanges and try to expand cooperation in education, health care, youth, tourism and other fields, so as to strengthen mutual understanding between the two peoples and consolidate the basis of public opinion for China-UK relations.

Hunt expressed that UK and China are important cooperative partners of each other. The UK side stands ready to further deepen high-level exchanges with China, to bring the UK-China High-Level People-to-People Dialogue into full play, to expand exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, health care and other fields, and to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, so as to promote UK-China relations for greater development.

Liu Yandong, Chairwoman of the Chinese side of the China-UK High-Level People-to-People Dialogue and Vice Premier of the State Council, was present at the meeting.
