On April 17, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met with Chief Executive Robert Thomson of News Corp. of the US at Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.

Li Keqiang briefed the guest on the current economic situation in China. He pointed out that since last year, faced with various domestic and international challenges, the Chinese government has adhered to making progress while maintaining stability, worked to maintain stable growth, make structural adjustment, and carry out reform, improved the ways of exercising macro-control, and achieved the major target for the economic and social development. In the first quarter of this year, the Chinese national economy enjoyed a steady start and overall sound situation, performing within a proper range.

Li Keqiang noted, it is not an easy task for China, as such a big economy, to maintain a medium-high economic growth of 7.5 percent. The Chinese economy is qualified for a sustainable improvement. We will comprehensively deepen the reforms, promote a new round of opening-up, continue to streamline administration and delegate power, and integrate the power delegation with tightened oversight, so as to further energize the market and stimulate social creativity and to promote a sustainable and healthy development of Chinese economy. Hope that the international media could cover China in a comprehensive and objective manner, and play a positive and constructive role in enhancement of mutual understanding and promotion of friendly cooperation between China and other countries.

Thomson said that the News Corp pays high attention to the development process of Chinese economy, attaches importance to reports on China, and is willing to make positive efforts to enhance the mutual understanding and cooperation between the world and China.
