Li Keqiang Meets with Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany

In the afternoon of April 14, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met with Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany at Ziguangge of Zhongnanhai.

Li Keqiang said, President Xi Jinping recently paid a successful visit to Germany, and the two countries established an all-round strategic partnership. I am looking forward to the visit to Germany within this year and co-chairing the third round of the China-Germany inter-governmental consultation with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany. Hope that both sides will work out the long-term action plan for China-Germany cooperation, to enhance the bilateral cooperation in manufacturing and emerging industries of strategic significance, so as to promote the continuous advancement of the bilateral relations and cooperation at a high level.

Li Keqiang pointed out that Germany is an important member of the European Union (EU) and a major country with global influence. China is willing to enhance the communication and coordination with the German side on the international and regional affairs, to play a constructive role politically in promoting the settlement of the divergences and disputes through dialogues and consultation, and to support liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment in economic and trade field, so as to jointly safeguard world peace and stability and to promote sustainable development of the global economy.

Steinmeier said that Germany and China share broad range of common interests and boast fruitful achievements and broad prospect in bilateral cooperation. Germany appreciates the constructive role played by China in the international affairs, and is willing to enhance communication and mutual learning with China. The German side looks forward to Premier Li's visit to Germany within this year and the coming inter-governmental consultation. Germany hopes to further boost strategic cooperation, improve the competitiveness of the two economies, and promote the common development.

Both sides also exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and other topics.
