Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan

In the afternoon of April 10, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met in Boao, Hainan Province with the visiting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan, who was in China to attend the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2014.

Li Keqiang pointed out, China-Pakistan relations are now achieving new progresses. Both sides agreed to focus on building the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in the bilateral practical cooperation, which is conducive to forging the China-Pakistan community of common destiny. China is willing to comprehensively uplift the bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in various fields, trying to complete the long-range planning of the Economic Corridor by the end of this year. The agreed preferential and early-harvesting projects should be implemented to forge a good start for the building of the Economic Corridor and the financial support should be ensured. China is willing to enhance counter-terrorist cooperation with Pakistan and hopes that the Pakistani side will provide security assurance for the Chinese institutions and citizens in the country.

Sharif said that Pakistan and China enjoy a time-honored friendship with profound basis. The two countries are long-time-tested all-weather friends. Developing relations with China is the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy. Pakistan is willing to further strengthen strategic cooperation with China, to comprehensively implement agreements reached by both sides, and to focus on promoting the building of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, so as to effectively benefit the two peoples. Pakistan will spare no efforts to safeguard the safety of Chinese institutions and personnel in the country.
