Ambassador Xu Hong Presents the Letter of Credence

On May 10, H.E. Ambassador Xu Hong presented the Letter of Credence to Honourable Elliot Belgrave, Acting Governor-General of Barbados. They held a cordial and friendly conversation.

Ambassador Xu conveyed cordial greetings from President Hu Jintao to Acting Governor-General. Xu said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Barbados 35 years ago, both sides have witnessed frequent exchanges of high-level visits, deepened mutual understanding and political trust, remarkable achievements of cooperation in economy, business, culture, education and etc., and strengthened coordination and cooperation in international affairs. He said Chinese side valued the traditional friendship with Barbados and stood ready to promote mutually beneficial cooperation with Barbadian side in all areas to a new level. Xu indicated that as Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, he would exert his efforts to strengthen the friendly cooperation between two countries and deepen the friendship between our two peoples.

Acting Governor-General returned his sincere greetings to President Hu and extended warm welcome to Ambassador Xu. He expressed his admiration for China's tremendous achievements in society, economy, culture and etc., and said since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1977; Barbados and China's friendly relations have strengthened. He hoped Ambassador Xu would made new great contributions to the development of Barbados-China bilateral ties.

Before the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Xu presented a copy of the Letter of Credence to Mr. Philip St. Hill, Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

Political Counsellor, Mrs. Wang Lei and Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Mr. Yao Wenlong were present at the above-mentioned activities.

Ambassador Xu Hong, the 12th Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, arrived in Barbados on April 10.
