Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Barbados paid a visit to the University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus

On April 3rd, H.E. Yan Xiusheng, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Barbados paid a visit to the University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus and met with Professor Eudine Barriteau, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the U.W.I. Cave Hill Campus accompanied by Mr. Zhang Xiu, Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Barbados.

Ambassador Yan and Professor Barriteau reviewed the fruitful results that have been achieved in China-Barbados and China-Caribbean education cooperation in recent years, especially the establishment and progress achieved by the Confucius Institute at the U.W.I. Cave Hill Campus, the China-Caribbean Legal Research Center, the U.W.I. China Institute of Information Technology and the project for the Barbados Center for Food Security and Entrepreneurship. The two sides both agreed to explore new potential for cooperation to further deepen the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples so as to contribute to the development of the bilateral cooperative relations.

After the meeting, Ambassador Yan and Professor Barriteau attended the handover ceremony of tablets donated to the students of the U.W.I. Cave Hill Campus who suffered from the hurricanes last year.
