Chinese Embassy Held a Presentation of 2016/2017 Chinese Government Scholarship

On August 15th, the Chinese Embassy in Barbados held a presentation of 2016/2017 Chinese Government Scholarship. H.E. Ms. Wang Ke, Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, The Hon. Ronald Jones, Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of Barbados, Senator the Hon. Maxine McClean, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, Mrs. June Chandler, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education, Mr. David Bulbulia, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 8 scholarship beneficiaries and their parents attended the presentation.

Ambassador Wang presented the Admission Letters to the 8 Barbadian students. She and the two Ministers congratulated the scholarship winners, wishing them all the best in their coming study and life in China and encouraging them to take the opportunity and responsibility to become the bridge of people-to-people exchange between China and Barbados so as to further promote the existing friendly relations between the two countries.

At the presentation, volunteers from the Confucius Institute at the University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus gave the 8 beneficiaries a brief introduction of Chinese culture and basic language skills. Two former scholarship beneficiaries also shared their study and living experiences in different Chinese cities.

These 8 benificiaries will study in different universities in China and their majors include International Relations, Architecture, Biomedical Engineering, Tourism Management and Quantitative Economics etc.
