Ambassador Xu Hong met with Prime Minister Stuart

On August 6, 2013, H. E. Mr. Xu Hong, Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, met with the Hon. Freundel Stuart, Prime Minister of Barbados.

Prime Minister Stuart praised his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Trinidad and Tobago in early June as “very fruitful”. He also pointed out that President Xi’s visit signaled that China attached great importance to the relationship with Barbados and the Caribbean region. He pledged to work together with the Chinese side to strengthen cooperation in the areas such as economy and trade, tourism, education, renewable energy and climate change.

Ambassador Xu briefed Prime Minister Stuart on the latest development in the practical cooperation between China and Barbados. He stressed that in order to implement the consensus reached by both leaders in their meeting, relevant Chinese departments have done great amount of work and a number of progresses have been made. Chinese side is prepared to work closely with relevant Barbadian departments to further raise work efficiency with the aim to bring early fruition of the bilateral cooperation.

Political counselor Mrs. Wang lei, commercial counselor Mr. Wu Gangchen of the Embassy and Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Ms. Sonja Welch attended the meeting.
