Ambassador Xu Hong Attended the Military Aid Materials Handover Ceremony

On June 26th, Chinese Ambassador Xu Hong attended the Military Aid Materials Handover Ceremony at St. Ann’s Fort. On behalf of the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China and the Defence Force of Barbados respectively, Ambassador Xu Hong and Chief of Staff of BDF, Colonel Quintyne signed the Handover Certificates and the aid materials were handed over to Barbados Defence Force.

In his remarks, Ambassador Xu Hong said, “After establishing diplomatic relations between China and Barbados in 1977, the cooperation and exchanges in all fields of society have been carried out very successfully. Senior Governments officials have kept in touch with their counterparts. People of the two countries have been successfully carrying on cultural, educational cooperation and exchanges. Military exchanges are also carried out smoothly. Chinese military side has provided aids gratis for years. Some opportunities have been provided to BDF officers to know their counterparts in China and get to know Chinese military as well.” In 2012, PLA Military Band paid a successful visit to Barbados. He was sure that with the mutual efforts, the military exchanges and cooperation between China and Barbados would bear more fruits, which would enrich the government exchanges and add more glory to the friendship among peoples of China and Barbados.

Chief of Staff, Colonel Quintyne expressed his thanks to Chinese Government and the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China for the aid gratis, spoke highly of the professional techniques of PLA Military Band and promised that with hard practicing of the new musical instruments, the public would enjoy the professional performance of BDF Military Band in near future.
