Ambassador Xu Hong Met with Maxine McClean, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade

On April 12th, H. E. Mr. Xu Hong, Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, met with Hon. Senator Maxine McClean,Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados and discussed topics on enhancing bilateral relationship and pragmatic cooperation in the near future.

Ambassador Xu expressed that the new governments of the two countries have just taken office smoothly, so it would be a perfect time to set a new plan for friendly cooperation in the next 5 years. The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Barbadian side to deepen the exchanges and cooperations in politics, economy, culture, education and agriculture to promote the bilateral friendship.

Minister McClean agreed with Ambassador Xu's viewpoint and stated that the Barbados Government attached importance to the relationship between Barbados and China and looked forward to achieving more practical results by joint efforts of both sides. Minister McClean put up with suggestions on economic and technical cooperations and expecting discussions with the Chinese side.

During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on questions of common interest.

Mrs. Wang Lei, Political Counsellor and Mr. Wu Gangchen, Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Darcy Boyce, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Mr. Charles Burnett, Permanent Secretary and Mr. David Bulbulia, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Foreign Ministry attended the meeting.
