Ambassador Xu met with the Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management

On March 27, H. E. Mr. Xu Hong, Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. David Estwick, Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Recourse Management.

Minister Estwick welcomed Ambassador Xu's second visit to the Ministry, reviewed the fruitful cooperations in agriculture between China and Barbados, and thanked the Chinese government for its long-time support to the agricultural development of Barbados. He introduced the developments in agriculture, fisheries, and stock raising and experiences and existing problems of water resource management of Barbados. He expressed that the two countries had good potential in cooperations in the fields of organic cultivation and food security and the Ministry would spare no efforts to bring the bilateral agricultural cooperations to a new level.

Ambassador Xu congratulated Dr. Estwick on his reappointment as the Minister of Agriculture and said that agriculture played a significant role in economic development and it was an important part of the mutually beneficial cooperations of the two countries. He introduced the proposals of China-Latin America &Caribbean agricultural cooperation, and expressed that the Chinese side would make positive efforts to promote the bilateral agricultural cooperations. He forwarded an invitation to Minister Estwick of the First Meeting of China-Latin America and Caribbean Agricultural Minister's Forum to be held in Beijing in June and Minister Estwick accepted it with pleasure.

Embassy's Political Counselor Mrs. Wang Lei, Commercial Counselor Mr. Wu Gangchen and the Permanent Secretary, Chief Agriculture Officer and Chief Economist of the Ministry attended the meeting.
